چکیده

ObjectiveThis paper presented a detailed analysis of the epidemiology and molecular characteristics staphylococcal food poisoning (SFP) that occurred in hotel Hangzhou.MethodsA total 46 guests at underwent an epidemiological survey. Samples stool from patients, vomit, swabs kitchen, leftover items, anal handlers were taken investigated for presence potential pathogenic bacteria. Molecular techniques Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) performed to track evolution S. aureus associated with outbreak SFP.ResultsForty-six individuals displayed gastrointestinal symptoms. Seventeen isolates discovered carry seg, sei, sem, sen, seo, selu genes found specific enterotoxin gene cluster (egc) operon, but without classical enterotoxins such as SEA ∼ SEE. All egc-positive shared identical PFGE profiles classified under new ST7591 (Clonal Complex 72) spa typing t148. In addition, some obtained sources sold Hangzhou over past three years carrying egc grouped ST72 lineage (CC72). Through WGS, strong genetic connection was revealed between these clinical China.ConclusionsS. non-classical suggested be cause SFP humans.

An Outbreak of Community-Acquired Foodborne Illness Caused by Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Infections with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are increasingly community acquired. We investigated an outbreak in which a food handler, food specimen, and three ill patrons were culture positive for the same toxin-producing strain of MRSA. This is the first report of an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness caused by community-acquired MRSA.

Comparison of Efficacy of Two Disinfectants Against Foodborne Staphylococcus aureus

Background and Objectives: Foodborne illness is a common public health problem. Surfaces and equipment used in food production are involved in the spread of foodborne pathogens. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the antimicrobial effect of Vinoxide and Sanisept against Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from food production lines. Material and Methods: In this descriptive s...

Immune cell activation by enterotoxin gene cluster (egc)-encoded and non-egc superantigens from Staphylococcus aureus.

The species Staphylococcus aureus harbors 19 superantigen gene loci, six of which are located in the enterotoxin gene cluster (egc). Although these egc superantigens are far more prevalent in clinical S. aureus isolates than non-egc superantigens, they are not a prominent cause of toxic shock. Moreover, neutralizing Abs against egc superantigens are very rare, even among carriers of egc-positiv...
